Glamping in a Log Cabin with Featherdown at Warren Farm Cheddar Gorge in Somerset. In the heart of the Mendips’ Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the farm’s 1,000 acres stretch along Cheddar Gorge: the perfect location for lovers of the outdoors. Look out from the raised veranda deck of the newly unveiled log cabin, now available all year round. But make sure not to miss checking and feeding the sheep, goats and chickens!
Warren Farm grazes cattle and sheep – over 80 suckler cows that calve in March and up to 1,400 ewes that lamb in May – on hundreds of acres of conservation land for the National and Somerset Wildlife Trusts. For nearly 20 years, the farm has been part of the Countryside Stewardship Scheme due to its special location and land type, and also recently a new scheme to enhance further the farm’s environmental features and credentials. The farm is an inspiring size, but there is much warmth in the details, like when viewing the piglets in the animal paddock close to the tents. A great play fort for kids, including two towers, two slides, a crawl-through and three swings, plus two sand pits, enhances this Somerset glamping farm holiday.
Eat well, selecting the scrumptious West Country Welcome hamper as an extra, or from the well-stocked farm larder. And campfire marshmallows and hot chocolate are always a treat. Digest discovering the stunning 45-minute valley walk to Cheddar, home of its last cheese producer, the Cheddar Gorge Cheese Company. Glastonbury, in Arthurian legend the island of Avalon, is 30 mins away. Beautiful Bath and active Bristol, both not far. Visit too the big Somerset carnivals nearby all through November.
Through to the 1st April 2016, then again from June 1st, dogs can also come, and enjoy amazing walks.
