THE GYPSY CARAVAN
The original Romany caravan dating from the 1920’s has been lovingly restored. The inside is very cosy and romantic, with a pull out double bed and seats for you to sit in peace, read a book or simply admire the view. Please note we would recommend that anyone over 6ft tall uses the sofa bed in the cabin.
There is an electric heater in the caravan as well as a high-quality duvet with luxury bed linen, and for winter nights, two hot water bottles. The caravan has lamps and fairy lights which creates a really special atmosphere and a lovely place to spend the night.
Outside the gypsy caravan is a Romany cooking tripod with pots and pans to cook your bacon and eggs, a hearty stew or you can simply light a campfire to sit around in the evenings.
Situated next to the Gypsy caravan is a luxury self catering cabin with a veranda for you to sit and watch the sun go down on a warm summer’s evening. The cabin has a bathroom with a shower, toilet and sink. There is a fully equipped kitchen area with sink, cooker, fridge, microwave etc. The dining area has a table and chairs which seats four people, a wood burning stove for those cosy winter evenings, and a comfortable double sofa bed to sleep extra guests.
The cabin has been decorated and dressed in a real country style with vintage china and shabby chic furniture.
Situated in the field opposite the cabin is the beautiful ‘Babble Brook’ a peaceful place to sit, read a book, or have a picnic surrounded by the beautiful countryside that makes this area so special and unique.
There is an abundance of wild flowers and wildlife to be seen here including many birds of prey such as the majestic Red Kite. The cabin & caravan are for your own private use and there are no other holiday guests around. This is not communal in anyway.
Our gypsy caravan holiday is in the perfect location to explore and discover the local area. It lies on the borders of Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Wales and all offer bustling market towns, picturesque villages, colourful events and festivals and a wealth of archaeological, industrial and natural heritage to explore.
The historic market town of Ludlow, as described by John Betjeman as probably the loveliest town in England is only a ten minute drive away, offering holidaymakers the perfect opportunity to enjoy;
- Vast selection of pubs and restaurants including two Michelin star restaurants
- Fairy tale castle and more listed buildings than anywhere else its size in Britain
- Selection of independent shops including a multi-million pound local food centre
- Festivals throughout the year ranging from Shakespeare performed in the grounds of the ancient castle to the famous food festival
- Regular and traditional market in the town square selling things from local produce to antique and vintage items
“It’s so unusual to go somewhere that exactly meets your expectations, but this is it!! Exactly as we had imagined. A wonderful place to completely get away from it all, a thoroughly relaxing break. The cabin is gorgeous, the perfect spot tucked away on the hillside. To wake up every morning, make a cup of tea and watch the sun start its trail across the shropshire countryside, a quick day trip somewhere nearby, and a drink with birdsong before a campfire with a picture perfect view. What a way to spend a week!! Thanks for a wonderful stay” Bill & Sarah Bristol July
“We have had the best relaxing gypsy caravan break and waking up to that view was amazing. The cabin & caravan are perfect for that special time to unwind from the norm, perfect decor and so well put together. Sitting on the veranda with our dog, looking at the view, listening to the wildlife was a perfect way to end the day. All in all a wonderful place to chill out and just be. Will definitely tell our friends and family about Hillside and what it has to offer. Hope to be back someday. Thank you.” Janice, Jay & Dolly Essex July
