Glamping Hampshire and The New Forest

Stay at Gambledown Farm, Salisbury, Hampshire and The New Forest with Featherdown Farms. Just 5 miles north of the New Forest National Park, and 13 miles from historic Salisbury, is a 270-acre mixed farm dating back to 1875, home to a herd of shorthorn beef cattle. The Feather Down tents, positioned at the top of the field, reveal open views over the farm, the Hampshire Downs to the east, and the Wiltshire plains to the west. Come right away for Gambledown’s classic Easter egg hunt this Easter weekend!

Following a mile-long private road, peace, quiet and breathtaking views are offered plus a safe haven for children, who can explore the fields, woodland and a beautiful living willow tunnel. Bluebells blossoming in April are followed by the birth of over 30 calves each May and concluded by the summer solstice, at its most magical at Stonehenge, only 22 miles away. During the spring and summer months, there are also usually a few orphan lambs that love to be bottle fed by you between visits to the rabbits and guinea pigs.

Sustain yourself with Tamara and Richard’s homemade pizza’s with salad and a pudding for just £10 a head. Home-reared beef can also be bought at the farm. Order breakfast from Tamara first though: croissants, fresh bread and newspapers. Both the hospitality and location are special all year round. Salisbury Cathedral is the home of the best preserved original copy of the Magna Carta, and as 2015 is the 800th anniversary of its signing, the celebrations will be very nearby.

Winchester is just 22 miles away and the Dorset beaches a 45-minute car drive, with regular ‘cruises’ to the Isle of Wight available. Closer to home, the New Forest surroundings feature diversity walking and cycling routes, mountain bike trails and picturesque little villages, and the famous New Forest wild ponies at every turn.
