Glamping County Duham and The Pennines

Pennine Lodge offering Glamping in County Durham and The Pennines is situated on the banks of the River Wear in 16 acres of private land. It is a relaxing, tranquil environment in the heart of Weardale where you can walk, fish on our stretch of the river, visit the alpaca herd and purchase your own free range eggs and alpaca products.  Set in an area of outstanding natural beauty, our long Dales house is a smallholding nestled on the banks of the river Wear in St John’s Chapel. As well as glamping we have a small campsite accredited by the Camping and Caravanning Club and a B&B.

THE POD
Our wooden glamping pod is available for hire with or without breakfast. Positioned with a fantastic view, it has a private decking area with seating, and small BBQ and the inside includes

  • Double bed
  • Fridge
  • Tea and coffee making facilities
  • TV

THE ALPACAS AND HENS
We have a small herd of Huacaya Alpacas. They are friendly and inquisitive animals which are currently undergoing training for trekking. This is something we hope to offer in the future. We also keep free range hens and six Aylesbury ducks. Eggs are available to purchase daily.

FISHING
Our guests are welcome to fish on our stretch of the River Wear provided they have their own rod licence. The River Wear is widely recognised as one of the best Sea Trout rivers in England, with double-figure fish being caught annually.

LOCAL ATTRACTIONS
Weardale is in the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is a stunning landscape of open heather moors, dramatic dales, tumbling upland rivers, close knit communities, glorious waterfalls, colourful hay meadows, stone built villages and much more.
